SOP FOR MANAGEMENT OF NON-MUSLIM FUNERALS DURING MCO PERIOD MINISTRY OF NATIONAL UNITY UPDATED 12 MAY 2021

The following are the HIGHLIGHTS of the above mentioned SOP. For better management of funerals, NECF would like to advise churches to use the services of Funeral Undertakers at their premises with the participation of Pastors/Elders/Church Leaders instead of House Residences and Houses of Worship.

       

1. MANAGEMENT OF THE DECEASED AT HOUSE RESIDENCES

(a) Arrangements made for the deceased to be NOT MORE THAN 5 persons

(bathing/cleaning/clothing).

(b) Attendance of family members of the deceased to be NOT MORE THAN 20 persons subject to the house space area.

(c) Family members 60 years above and children below 12 years are not encouraged to attend. 

(d) The deceased to be brought to the place for cremation or burial accompanied by close family members of NOT MORE THAN 20 persons and the funeral ceremony to be completed at the shortest time duration possible.       

 

2. FINAL RESPECTS FOR THE DECEASED AT HOUSES OF WORSHIP

(a) Arrangements made for the deceased to be NOT MORE THAN 5 persons

(bathing/cleaning/clothing).

(b) Attendance of family members of the deceased to be NOT MORE THAN 20 persons, excluding House of Worship Committee Members.

(c) Family members 60 years above and children below 12 years are not encouraged to attend.

(d) The deceased to be brought to the place for cremation or burial accompanied by close family members of NOT MORE THAN 20 persons and the funeral ceremony to be completed at the shortest time duration possible.

 

3. FUNERAL CEREMONY AT FUNERAL PARLOURS/BURIAL GROUNDS/CREMATORIUMS

(a) Arrangements made for the deceased to be NOT MORE THAN 5 persons

(bathing/cleaning/clothing).

(b) Attendance of family members of the deceased to be NOT MORE THAN 20 persons, excluding House of Worship Committee Members.

(c) Family members 60 years above and children below 12 years are not encouraged to attend.

(d) Process of releasing the ashes of the deceased into the river or sea only involves close family members of NOT MORE THAN 5 persons.
