[NECF] Latest SOP for Non-Muslim Places of Worship in Selangor during CMCO

Dear Pastors, Elders, and Church Leaders

The Federal Government through the National Security Council (NSC) has issued the latest Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO)’s SOP for Peninsular Malaysia including the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya except Perlis, Kelantan and Pahang dated 11 November 2020. The SOP, among other matters states that activities at non-Muslim houses of worship are ALLOWED with the limit of attendance set by the respective State Governments.

The Selangor Government has released a media statement on 11 November 2020, that the limit for Non-Muslim Places of Worship to comply with the Selangor Revision 1 Guideline dated  June 26, 2020.

Aspects relating to the limit of attendance and age are stated in the table under the heading: SELANGOR COVID-19 ALERT LEVELS SYSTEM FOR RELIGIOUS GATHERINGS on page 5 of the guideline. The highlights according to the colour of the zone are as follows:

  1. RED ZONE: 
    Maximum of 20 people (e.g. to facilitate online broadcast) ALLOWED.  Those age  70 and above are NOT ALLOWED.
  2. YELLOW ZONE:
    Number of people ALLOWED according to the size of the area and space of the room/hall with  physical distancing of 1.5 metres. Those age 70 and above are NOT ALLOWED.
  3. GREEN ZONE:
    Number of people ALLOWED according to the size of the area and space of the room/hall with physical distancing of 1.5 metres.  Those age 70 and above are DISCOURAGED BUT ALLOWED.
