CFM CALLS ON CHURCHES TO RENDER AID AND SUPPORT TO STRANDED BOAT PEOPLE
The Christian Federation of Malaysia welcomes the statement by the governments of Indonesia and Malaysia that they will provide humanitarian assistance to the Rohingya and Bangladeshi migrants trapped on the high seas and that they will be offered temporary shelter on-shore pending clarification and confirmation of their refugee status.
The Christian Federation of Malaysia urges the fullest efforts and co-operation among nations and international agencies to assist and to provide humanitarian aid swiftly to the affected persons.
We call on all churches in Malaysia to render help and support to aid agencies which are mobilising to alleviate the suffering of these migrant boat people.
