NECF: Continue with Fervent Prayers

23 August 2013

Dear Pastors, Elders and Church Leaders,

Continue with Fervent Prayers

The Court of Appeal has dismissed the motion by the Catholic Church to strike out the appeal by the government against the judgement of Justice Lau Bee Lan permitting the Catholic newspaper, Herald to use the word "Allah". In the light of this decision, the CFM has issued a statement and we in NECF would continue to call on churches, intercessors and all Christians to continue with fervent prayers for this case. The substantive appeal is due to be heard by the Court of Appeal on 10 September 2013.

We would also harken the remarks by the one of the judges that this issue and the appeal before the court is not an academic issue but one that is very much alive. We however call on all Christians while praying for the case to not be distracted and to be fervent in our good works towards nation building for our beloved nation.

The scriptures always reminds us that such events and happenings are not just struggles "against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." (Ephesians 6:12; NIV).

We therefore urge all to fast and pray especially in this season of our own 40-days fast and prayer. May God's glory and presence shine before our nation.

Blessings in Christ,
Eugene Yapp
Secretary-General
