Statement by the MCCBCHST on the 13th General Elections

In view of the upcoming General Elections, the Malaysian Consultative Council for Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST) which covers a significant segment of the Malaysian population, calls for the following:

  • That the Election Commission ensures clean and fair elections without favour to any person, party or coalition;
  • That every Malaysian is free to exercise their right to vote without fear or intimidation;
  • That all Malaysians, peoples of all faith, will exercise their civic and moral duty by coming out to vote on Polling day;
  • That every individual will cast their vote responsibly based on their good conscience as endowed by God.

Most of all, the MCCBCHST hopes fervently that the government that is elected will serve responsibly for the common good of all Malaysians irrespective of race, religion, and ethnicity. It is further hoped that the new government would abide by Rule of Law, respect supremacy of the Constitution and ensure Independence of the Judiciary.
