21 August 2013
Dear Pastors, Elders and Church Leaders,
A Call for Prayer
The Court of Appeal has fixed 22 August 2013 to hear the motion by the Catholic Church to strike out the appeal by the government against the judgement of Justice Lau Bee Lian permitting the Catholic newspaper, Herald to use the word "Allah". The hearing is set to proceed at 9am at the Court of Appeal, the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya.
In view of this very important matter, we would urge all churches and prayer groups to set aside time from 9 am to 12 noon to fast and pray for the hearing proper as well as the outcome of the hearing; that justice and the rule of law will be upheld and the fundamental liberties as enshrined in our Federal Constitution preserved in this our multi-religious nation.
We also attached a press release by the Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur pertaining to this matter which is pending before the Court of Appeal for your information and further prayers.
May God hear our prayers and bless the nation!
